Beauty app development

We build apps that pair with skin and hair scanning devices and turn what those devices read into product and treatment recommendations. Skin and hair analysis, in-store consultation tools and product discovery.

We build beauty apps end to end, from the scan or the consultation through to the product someone actually buys. That covers skin analysis apps paired with scanning hardware, AI hair and scalp scanners, in-store and in-salon consultation tools, the product discovery and try-on around them and many more. The app we built for Walgreens Boots No7 has launched in over 400 Boots stores, where staff use it to help customers find products.

Skin analysis apps

We build apps that read skin from a scanning device or a guided camera flow and turn the reading into product and treatment recommendations. Walgreens Boots No7 Pro Derm Scan is the shipped example, launched in over 400 Boots stores.

Hair and scalp analysis

We build professional hair scanners that capture hair and scalp through cameras or devices, run the images through AI analysis and return a tailored product and treatment plan in seconds, with the web dashboard the professional works from. The Hair Analysis App is ours.

Connected beauty devices

We build the app, the backend and the connectivity layer for beauty hardware, covering Bluetooth pairing and reconnect logic, over-the-air firmware update flows and the diagnostics support teams need. It is how the No7 Pro Derm Scan app talks to its handheld scanner, and it is part of our IoT software development.

Virtual try-on

We offer virtual try-on, so someone can test products on a live camera view or a photo. It suits colour cosmetics, where the flow feels like play and people spend longer with the catalogue, and every product a shopper sees is one you actually stock.

Personalised routines and product recommendations

We build the recommendation layer that turns a scan, a questionnaire or a purchase history into a routine someone follows, and the profile that remembers what worked.

Beauty e-commerce and digital storefronts

We build branded storefronts that carry the in-store experience online, along with subscription and reorder flows for the staples, so regular customers restock without thinking about it.

In-store and in-salon consultation tools

Staff use these with a customer beside them, so they carry the scan, the recommendation and the client admin in one place. Staff in Boots cosmetics stores use the No7 app to help customers find products, and the Hair Analysis App carries guest tracking and management for hair professionals and salons.

Salon, spa and clinic booking

We offer appointment booking and the client-facing app around the calendar, which is where a salon or clinic product usually starts.

Product discovery and community

We build discovery products where what surfaces first decides everything. Glimpse is an ad-free iOS app where community votes rank outfits, built in Swift and SwiftUI on a Ruby on Rails backend. It is a fashion app, and the mechanics carry straight across to beauty.

AI in beauty

A scan produces a picture. AI turns that picture into an assessment, and a recommendation layer connects the assessment to a product or a treatment someone can actually buy. The Hair Analysis App is our shipped example, an AI hair scanner built so professionals can read hair and scalp conditions from a quick scan and hand over a tailored product and treatment plan. The same approach drives personalised routines and product recommendations. A scan earns its place whenever the hardware can see something the user would not think to describe.

frequently asked questions

wolf
Yes. The reading can only be as good as the image or sensor data behind it, so most of the work goes into capture. That is why a skin analysis app is usually built around a dedicated device or a tightly guided camera flow instead of a free-form photo. No7 Pro Derm Scan above is the one we have shipped.
No. We build the app, the backend and the connectivity layer, working against your device and its firmware while a hardware team builds the device itself. In practice that means Bluetooth pairing and reconnect logic, Wi-Fi provisioning where the device needs it, over-the-air firmware update flows, and diagnostics so support can tell a broken device from a broken connection. Most of this work starts while the device is still a prototype, and the app and the firmware settle together.
Yes, and it suits colour cosmetics, where the flow feels like play and people spend longer with the catalogue. Skincare and hair care depend on the condition of someone's skin or scalp, so a scan or a short consultation questionnaire gives a better result there. Our Head of Product Design wrote about where each one earns its place in how to design a beauty app people love.
Yes. Most of a salon or clinic product hangs off the calendar. We offer appointment booking and the client-facing app around it, and where a treatment starts with a reading, the consultation tooling above pairs with it.
Yes. No7 Pro Derm Scan was built for Walgreens Boots Alliance, and Sephora is among the brands we have worked with. More widely, we have delivered 250+ products since 2015 and hold ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 certification, independently audited each year. The rest of the sectors we build for are in industries.
Yes. Walgreens Boots No7 Pro Derm Scan covers connected skin analysis at retail scale and the Hair Analysis App covers AI hair and scalp diagnostics for professionals. Glimpse adds the community and product-discovery side, though it belongs to fashion. Each has its own write-up, and the full set is in our work.
Yes. These products move whenever the device firmware, the OS or the product range does, and a scanner app that has drifted out of step with the catalogue behind it stops being useful quickly. App maintenance and QA and app testing are both ongoing services here.
It depends on whether the product pairs with hardware, whether the analysis model already exists or has to be built, how many platforms you need, and whether staff-facing tooling is in scope. An app that reads an existing device's output costs far less than a product where the app, the analysis and the firmware integration are all new.
