Q1 2022 Wrap-up: The Howl Heard Around the World

Here we are — at the end of the beginning of 2022. Honestly, the first quarter always feels magical and full of new beginnings. A new year starts, together with new projects and (realistic) resolutions, the snow slowly melts, and the plants spring to life as we set new goals. 

There’s a general “Let’s do it!” energy at the office as we end Q1 💪, as our team has started many new web and mobile projects in the Fintech, Healthtech, Transportation, Education, and Beauty spaces.

Let’s start off with some big news, shall we?

The Wolf of Pearse Street 🏫🇮🇪

Ireland has had a special place in our hearts for a long time now, so we decided to also have a special place in Ireland - our second Wolf Den, in the middle of beautiful Dublin! 🇮🇪

We got our own space at Huckletree Dublin. They immediately caught our attention through their commitment to creating a cool environment where creativity can thrive. The iconic Academy building on Pearce street hosts some amazing companies we truly admire.

We’ve joined the vibrant Irish tech community after falling in love with their culture and approach to innovation. Working with all our Irish partners has been a blast, and we can’t wait to take on more opportunities to build tech that changes the world together with Irish pioneers. 💡

General Atmosphere🏡

2022 is extra special, as the anti-Covid restrictions in Romania were lifted at the beginning of March (we’re still doing our utmost to keep everyone safe and healthy, and we choose where we feel more comfortable working). It feels like life is slowly getting back to normal, or at least a “new normal”, after over two years of the pandemic. 

However, the war in Ukraine has also left a mark on the wolves, and our thoughts are with our neighboring country, whom we support by offering our availability for the software development of platforms for refugees. We believe that every small gesture counts and has a ripple effect, so we decided to turn our traditional “Yellow Tuesday” into “Yellow-Blue Tuesday”.

Going back to the atmosphere in Cluj, one thing is clear: more and more offline events are popping up around us and at our den. Well, it’s not hard to get people together when you have a nice backyard and beautiful weather!

On the topic of events, let’s talk about the big one… 🥁🥁🥁

Wolfpack Digital turned 7! 🥳

For seven years, we’ve been on a quest to create powerful web and mobile apps, start-to-end! It’s been an amazing journey, filled with surprises and achievements. We’re ecstatic to have reached this milestone, and we’re working hard for the next ones. 🏆

This year’s celebration was held online, but hey! That didn’t stop us from partying. We sent everyone a special anniversary goodie bag with all the essentials and hopped into a company-wide celebration meetup.

It was a touching moment, especially with the beautiful message from Gina, our CEO, to the whole team. Here is an excerpt: 

“On our 7th anniversary, “I would like to thank you deeply for all your hard work, support, and dedication, and for being the most colorful, fun & creative team one can wish for!”

But the company anniversary isn’t the only party this quarter. As you no doubt know, the 8th of March is International Women’s Day. Besides a gift bag and the iconic traditional Romanian Martisor, the wolfettes celebrated with a Ladies Night IN. Paying it forward in the community 💬

We've always loved being involved in all kinds of events, be they hackathons, conventions, or just about any venue to share knowledge and maybe a joke or two. This quarter, we had the pleasure to participate in the following events:

• European Startup Universe Romania - The six-week accelerator organized by Romanian Tech Startups Association brought together plenty of bright people to help Romanian visionaries build their dream products. Gina participated as an expert in the program.

• Innovation Labs 2022 - This pre-accelerator for tech founders and startups is well known and loved in the Romanian tech community. Their goal is to empower participants to develop proof-of-concept solutions and products with the support of top mentors in the ICT and business industry. Gina was invited here as well, both as a mentor and part of the jury.

• #ConstruimViitor - This event is the first in the “Idei cu Spor” series, intending to provide career advice to young students and professionals. Gina was one of the speakers for the event.

• Startup an Engineer - This is another great program organized by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. Their aim is twofold - to help people gain the skills and knowledge to become part of the student body, but also to prepare them for their professional life after uni. As we see it as an important cause, we decided to sponsor the program.

As with previous years, we’ve also continued our partnership with Code4Romania and the Romanian Fencing Federation. 🤺

Last but certainly not least, we’ve been featured in two very exciting publications this past quarter. Here’s the scoop:

In late January, Gina gave an interview for TechCrunch about how agencies can help partners, especially non-technical ones in creating their dream app. If you’re interested in subjects like idea validation, budget setting, scope creep, and delivery time, then we highly suggest you give it a read.

The next article was in the Irish Times this March. If you’ve read closely up to this point, you can probably guess why. 😉 Still, it’s not just an announcement about the Irish Office. The interview covers more topics, such as entrepreneurship for women and the curious similarities between Dublin and Cluj-Napoca, HQ. You can check out the article here!
